How to use the Sign PDF & Documents
- Drop one or more PDFs, or photos and scans of paper documents (JPG, PNG, WebP), or click to choose them.
- Create your signature: draw it with a mouse, finger or stylus, type your name and pick a handwriting style, or upload a photo of your signature on paper and let the tool remove the background. Make initials the same way.
- Click the signature, then click on the page where it belongs. Drag it into place and pull its corner to resize.
- Add the date, text such as your printed name or title, and check or cross marks for boxes. Double-click a text field to type in place; pick any date and format for date fields.
- Use "Every page" to repeat initials on all pages of a file, and the arrow keys to nudge a field into line.
- Download the signed file. Several files come back as a ZIP, or as one combined PDF if you tick that option.
What it does well
Signatures that look like ink. When you draw, the line gets thinner as you move faster and a stylus uses its pressure, so the result looks like a pen signature rather than a uniform marker line. Drawn and typed signatures are stored as vector outlines, which stay crisp in the PDF at any zoom.
The PDF stays a real PDF. Fields are written as new content on top of each page, so the original text remains searchable and selectable and the file size barely changes. Pages that are rotated or have a cropped area are handled, so the signature lands exactly where you put it.
Many files, many pages. Open several PDFs and photos together, repeat your initials on every page with one click, pick any date and format, and save each file separately, as a ZIP or as one combined PDF.
Frequently asked questions 8
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. PDFs and images are opened, rendered and saved by your browser on your own device. The only things loaded from this site are the page itself, the PDF reader and, when you use the Type option, the handwriting fonts.
Where is my signature stored?
Only in this browser's local storage on this device, and only if "Keep on this device for next time" is ticked. It is never sent to a server and is not part of the usage history, even when you are signed in. Delete a saved signature with the small x on its card; clearing your browser's site data removes all of them.
Will the text in my PDF stay selectable?
Yes, by default. The signature, dates and text are added as new PDF content on top of the original pages, so the original text, fonts, links and page sizes are untouched. Drawn and typed signatures are vector outlines, so they look sharp when zoomed in or printed. Choose "Flatten to images" if you want each page saved as a picture with the signature painted in, which is harder to edit.
Can I sign a photo of a paper document?
Yes. Add the photo as it is and place your signature on it. You can save it in the same image format, or as a PDF in which the photo is the page and the signature and text are sharp vector content on top.
How do I add a signature from a photo of my handwriting?
Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen, take a sharp photo in good light and choose Upload image. The tool finds the paper colour, makes it transparent and crops to the ink. Raise Background removal to clear shadows; lower it if thin strokes fade. Tick "Keep the original colours" for coloured stamps or seals, otherwise the ink takes the colour you pick.
Can I type a signature in Korean, Chinese or other scripts?
The six handwriting styles cover Latin letters. For other scripts choose "Your device's script font", which uses the fonts on your device and saves the result as an image, or draw your signature. Text and date fields in other scripts are saved as sharp 300 dpi images inside the PDF, because the standard PDF font only has Western letters.
What about password-protected PDFs?
If a PDF needs a password to open, enter it and the pages appear. PDFs that are protected against changes cannot have content added directly, so the tool saves their pages as high-resolution images with your signature on them and tells you when it does.
Is this a legally binding electronic signature?
This tool places an image of your signature on the document, the same as signing a printout and scanning it. Many countries accept this kind of simple electronic signature for everyday agreements, but some documents require a certificate-based digital signature, a witness or a wet-ink original. Check what the recipient or the law requires for your document.
