Label sheet

Find the product code on your label packet. Codes listed as "same layout" print identically.

Avery 516030 per sheet · US Letter · 2.63 × 1 in · 66.7 × 25.4 mm

Avery 5160 · 30 per sheet · US Letter

2.63 × 1 in · 66.7 × 25.4 mm

Click an item on the label to change it, or add text, codes and shapes in step 2. Dashed line: keep important content inside it, because printers can shift by a millimetre or so.

How to use the Label Maker

  1. Pick your label sheet by its Avery code (for example 5160 or L7160), or enter the size of any other brand under Custom size.
  2. Design one label: start from a layout such as Address, Shipping, Asset tag or Radioactive source, then add text, QR codes, barcodes, images, shapes or the radiation symbol and drag them into place.
  3. For a different text on every label, paste rows from Excel or Google Sheets, or open a CSV or .xlsx file, and click a column name to put it on the label.
  4. Under Print, choose how many labels, where to start on a partly used sheet, and the numbering. Print the alignment test page once if your printer shifts.
  5. Download the PDF and print it at 100% (Actual size) on your label sheets.

Built for accurate printing

Every sheet is defined in millimetres from the page edge, and the PDF is drawn at exactly that size, with each label clipped to its own outline so nothing spills onto the next one. Barcodes, QR codes, shapes and the radiation trefoil are vector paths. Text fits itself: with "Shrink to fit" a long name gets a smaller font instead of being cut off, and lines wrap at word boundaries.

Labels for labs and radiation safety

The Radioactive source and Radioactive waste layouts include the trefoil in ISO 361 proportions, in magenta or black on yellow, or as an ISO 7010 warning triangle. Combine them with sample IDs from a spreadsheet, QR codes that link to your inventory, and an activity column decay-corrected to the day you print.

Frequently asked questions 8

Which Avery templates are included?

33 of the most used sheets: 16 on US Letter (such as 5160, 5161, 5163, 5167 and 22807 round labels) and 17 on A4 (such as L7160, L7163, L7651 and L7656). Each one also lists the product codes that share its layout, for example 8160 and 5960 print exactly like 5160. For other brands, enter the label size, count and margins under Custom size.

How do I print addresses from Excel?

Copy the cells in Excel (including the header row) and paste them into step 3, or open the .xlsx or CSV file. Each row becomes a label. Click a column name such as Name to insert {{Name}} into the selected text box, or use "Put all columns in the main text box". Use the arrows above the editor to check each row before printing.

Why do my labels print slightly off?

Most printers shift the page by up to a millimetre or two, and "Fit to page" in the print dialog shrinks everything. Print at 100% or Actual size. If it is still off, print the alignment test page on plain paper, hold it over a label sheet against the light, and enter the difference under Printer adjustment.

Can I use a sheet that is partly used?

Yes. Set "Start at label" or click the first free label in the sheet preview. The labels before it are left blank, so you can use up partial sheets.

Which barcodes are supported?

Code 128 (letters, digits and symbols, used for shipping and inventory), EAN-13, UPC-A and EAN-8 for retail products (the check digit is calculated for you), Code 39, and QR codes with four error-correction levels. All are drawn as vector shapes, so they stay sharp at any printer resolution.

How does the decay-corrected activity work?

For radioactive source labels, load a list with a nuclide, an activity (for example 370 kBq or 10 mCi) and a reference date. The tool adds a column with each activity on the date you choose, using A = A0 × 2^(−t/T½) and the evaluated half-lives used by the Radiation Lab calculators, rounded to 3 significant figures.

Will text in other languages print correctly?

Yes. Latin text is written into the PDF as real text using the standard Helvetica, Times or Courier fonts. Text those fonts cannot show, such as Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic or emoji, is placed as a 600 dpi image of the text block, which prints as crisply as a laser printer can.

Are my addresses uploaded?

No. The design, the data and the PDF are all made in your browser. They are kept only in this browser so your work is still there next time. Signed-in history stores the label design and settings, never your data rows.
